Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying)
Yorkville University MACP Practicum Student
Hello, my name is Renah DeMichele, and I am a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying).
A bit about me
I’ve always been someone people turn to during difficult moments – the one who listens closely, stays present, and helps them feel a little less alone. Supporting my friends, family, and community members through stress, illness, and major life changes taught me how powerful it is to have someone sit with you without judgment.
My time volunteering on a crisis line deepened that understanding. It taught me to listen beneath the surface, to hold space for complexity, and to trust that people are resilient and can grow even during uncertainty. I learned how much courage it takes for someone to reach out, and how meaningful it is to be met with steadiness and compassion.
These experiences are at the heart of why I chose to pursue psychotherapy and why I feel so drawn to working with adults navigating stress, anxiety, depression, and life transitions. I’ve seen how transformative it can be to have someone walk alongside you, and I hope to continue to bring that same grounded, attuned presence into my work as a therapist.
How I understand therapy
I believe therapy is a space where people can finally exhale – a secure place where you don’t have to hold everything together, where your emotions are welcome, and where you can explore your inner world at a pace that feels safe. Therapy is both a relationship and a process – one that helps you make sense of your experiences, reconnect with your strengths, and move toward the life you want.
What matters to me in this work
I feel especially drawn to supporting individuals who are navigating stress, anxiety, depression, life transitions, chronic illness, and caregiver challenges. I care deeply about creating a space where people feel safe enough to share the parts of their lives that may feel difficult to talk about. I value working in ways that honour each person’s story, cultural context, and lived experience. It matters to me that you feel understood, supported, and empowered in our work together.
What I bring into the room
You might experience me as warm and empathetic. I bring a sense of steadiness, genuine interest, and non-judgment into the room. I understand that opening can feel vulnerable, and I aim to meet you where you are. I believe that meaningful change happens when we feel safe enough to be honest, supported enough to take risks, and empowered enough to imagine new possibilities.
My way of working
My style is collaborative and client-centred. In our sessions, you can expect us to work together at a pace that feels comfortable for you. I will listen to your experiences and support you in exploring your thoughts, emotions, patterns, and goals. I recognize that there is no one-size-fits-all approach to therapy, and I aim to tailor our work to what feels most helpful and relevant to you.
Who I work with / What I offer
I offer individual therapy for adults, supporting them through various concerns such as anxiety, depression, stress, and life transitions. Areas I often work with include emotional regulation, communication, self-esteem, and navigating change.
